I spot the hills
With yellow balls in autumn.
I light the prairie cornfields
Orange and tawny gold clusters
On the last of October
And I am called pumpkins. When dusk is fallen
Singing ghost songs
Children join hands And circle round me
With terrible teeth
And love to the harvest moon; I am a jack-o’-lantern
I am fooling.
And the children know
