Charlotte Brontë, author of Jane Eyre

Charlotte Brontë (21 April 1816 – 31 March 1855) is the author of poetry and novels.

Jane Eyre, her most famous work, was published in 1847.

I am celebrating her birthday (today) by writing this blog to encourage young people in following their talents, in spite of obstacles.

Charlotte and her two sisters were published authors, but they had to take on pseudonyms (false names) that appeared to be male, as women were not considered as serious writers.

When Charlotte revealed to her publisher that she was a woman, a new world opened up for females to be accepted as worthy authors.
