Maine: the Pine Tree state

On a journey around the 50 states of the USA., today's state is Maine. 
Here are some random facts:


  • Maine produces 99% of all the blueberries in the country making it the single largest producer of blueberries in the United States. (1)
  • Statehood: Became the 23rd State on March 15, 1820. (2)
  • There is no definitive explanation for the origin of the name "Maine", but the most likely origin is that the name was given by early explorers after the province of Maine in France.
