Pause and reset
Even here in Florida, summer is drawing to a close.
The sunrise has a different character, often red and gold. During the morning and afternoon, the sun is lower in the sky--it will get lower still as winter approaches. Sunsets are shorter than in the height of summer, and twilight comes earlier.
There is often a breath of not-so-hot-and-sticky air in the early morning, promising the crisper, cooler days of autumn (mind you, Florida crisper and cooler is not exactly New England fall, but it's less humid and sweaty than Florida summer).
Fall is my favorite time of year: school starts again (I have very mixed feelings about school, but the new school year still excites me), and the best holidays of the year are right ahead of us, all the way up to Christmas. my very favorite.
Now is a brief moment to pause before plunging into the activity of the harvest and return to routines. It's a good time to feel gratitude for what has been and anticipation for what is to come. This is the perfect time to press the reset button, accepting what's past and making a new, open vista for what you will do next.
