Mead Gardens "Growvember" plant sale
Yesterday we visited Mead Gardens in Winter Park for the first time. They were having a plant sale that sounded interesting. We had to do some detective work to find the gardens, as they are tucked away in a residential neighborhood on a side street with no signs until you are at the entrance.
But with the help of several people we asked on the way, we found it! When we got there, a volunteer, a boy about ten years old, told us where to park among all the cars and people, and gave us a guide to the gardens.
We spent some time under very tall trees among the tents where people were selling plants.
Then we found a tent set up by the Florida Native Plant Society
The plants they were selling were from a nursery in Groveland, FL, called Green Isle Gardens. With the help of a woman called April, we chose some plants that will attract butterflies and do well in our sunny garden.
There were food trucks at the plant sale, but we had another idea about getting something to eat.
We went to nearby Fiddler's Green, one of our favorite restaurants, for brunch. It was a beautiful day in November in Winter Park--78 degrees and sunny!
